I have to confess that I love our dining table too much too (and have been known to stroke it lovingly on the way past!! OMG I can't believe I just admitted that!!)
Funny I guess I am not alone in being inspired to respond to your post! I think your table is very nice. We did have a nice old 30's wooden table and I admit I did love it. But we just couldn't carry it with us. Now it's gone and I miss it (modern glass and metal tables just can't compare).
Nothing wrong with stroking a table from time to time, or for admitting it!
Funny that the table is actually new, but I do love older furniture and I guess that's why it appealed to me. The set is a perfect fit for our dining room and while I do someday hope to have a more formal dining room set, I will always have this table somewhere in my house.
..and what a fabulous chesnut leg it is :)
